Dear friends and colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 8th Congress of physiatrists of Serbia
with international attendance, which will take place in Ivanjica from 21st to 24th May 2008. We believe to have excellent conditions for successful work in the pleasant surroundings of Ivanjica.


The association is a full member of ISPRM (International Society of Physical and © The Serbian Association of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine) and a member of ESPRM (European Society of Physical and © The Serbian Association of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine).

Our congress meetings are held annually and traditionally we gather physiatrists, rheumatologists, orthopedists, child surgeons, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, neurologists and other experts in rehabilitation. The purpose of the congress is to demonstrate and share scientific achievements, professional innovations, accomplishments and experiences, with the goal of expanding the knowledge in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation and improving the health of our patients.

This year’s Congress is organized by the Serbian Association of Physiatrists and the Serbian Physicians’ Association, Department for physical medicine and rehabilitation. The topics featured at the congress, selected from the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, will be presented in the form of plenary lectures by eminent professors from Serbia, the surrounding countries (Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina), as well as other countries of the world. The original works will be reviewed by the Scientific Board, and will be presented on posters. The best original scientific works will be presented oraly

For the first time we will introduce workshops, which will hopefully be very useful.

We believe this year’s Congress will also be an opportunity for all participants to find time and socialize and enjoy the artistic program and entertainment, planned for them during the Congress.

Expert work at the Congress

Registration of participants at the Congress and the reception of Congress material will be held in the Hall of hotel Park from 12:00 on 21st May 2008.
The start of expert work is scheduled for Wednesday, 21st May 2008 at 15:00
Workshops will be held on 21st May 2008, from 15:00 to 17:00
Lectures upon invitation and oral announcements will be held in the Hall of hotel Park. Sponsored symposiums will be held in the same hall.
The time for lectures upon invitation is 15 minutes, and the time for original announcements is 7 minutes. Time for individual discussions is limited to 3 minutes.
All participants at the Congress will get a certificate on the participation in the work of the Congress, as well as a certificate for work presentation (oral or poster presentation) or introductory lecture.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING AND SENDING SUMMARIES
● Format - please
prepare and send the summary using following guidelines
● Text of the summary should contain the maximum of 2500 characters (including the title, list of institutions, authors, e-mail address and the summary itself), spacing 1, font Arial 12 – Cyrillic (in Serbian), and for summaries in English the same rules except for the Latin font.
● Do not use margins within assigned space, type from left to right edge
● Type the title in uppercase
● Do not
state the academic titles of the author
● Do not list referenced literature
● Names of authors: Surname, first name initial, comma (e.g.: Lazovic M, Devecerski G, Veljkovic M: the maximum is 1 author and 5 coauthors)
● Type the institutions in the line beneath author’s name. If there are more than one, each author (behind his/her name) and institution (before its name) are to be given respective numbers in superscript
● E-mail address it to be typed beneath the institution

PRESENTATION OF WORKS
The Scientific Board of the Congress will select the works for
oral or poster presentation. The selection of works will be based on scientific value of received summaries. The presentation type will be published on the Congress website after 20th April 2008.
Instructions for
oral presentation
The congress halls will have technical conditions for computer presentations. Computer presentations are to be prepared in MS Power Point and saved on CD, USB memory stick or notebook computer. We suggest for all presentations to be installed and tested at least two hours before the presentation.
Instructions for poster presentation
The poster has to be brought by the exhibitor personally, and is not to be sent by mail beforehand. The assigned dimensions are 90 cm (w) with 120 cm (h). The top of every poster needs to contain the title of the work, the names of the author and coauthor(s) and the institution they come from in bold letters, size between 2,5 and 3 cm.


AWARDS
The best poster presentation
The Scientific Board of the 8th Congress of Physiatrists of Serbia will award two authors at the closing ceremony on 24th May 2008 at 10:00
The best young researcher
The Scientific Board will award the best young researcher for scientific research in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. The criteria for the award: clinical or experimental scientific research; original research; oral presentation; less than 40 years of age before 21st May 2008


EXHIBITION
The accompanying exhibition will be held during the Congress. The most prominent suppliers of medicines, laboratory and other medical equipment and additional industry will exhibit their latest products.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
The opening ceremony with artistic program and welcoming dinner will take place on Wednesday, 21st May 2008 at 19:30 in the Hotel Park and the terrace of the waterfall restaurant.

Field trip: visit to Golija Lake on 22nd May 2008. at 14:00 sati


 

GOLIJA is one of the most beautiful and forest-richest mountains in Serbia. It has a shape of the S letter and spreads through 32 kilometers. MAB/UNESCO committee has enlisted 75.183 acres of biosphere reservation "Golija-Studenica" as a protected nature park. 


 

Field trip for congress attendants includes a visit to Studenica monastery and lunch at monastery restaurant on 23rd May 2008 from 14:00 to 19:00.
Most popular Serbian monastery Studenica is located in the river valley of river Studenica, 40km away from Ivanjica. This important religious monument dedicated to Mother of God was built from 1183 to 1191 by Duke Stefan Nemanja, as his main heritage and mausoleum. Church belongs to the Raska architectural movement and features a fusion of eastern and western styles of construction.  

Besides the main building, monastery complex has two other churches. .

Ceremonial dinner for participants will be held on Friday, 23rd May 2008 at 20:00
 

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel Park (www.hotel-park.co.yu) is a 4 star hotel with 140 beds in single and double rooms and 4 apartments with the congress hall, bar, small wellness center (pool, sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, fitness center), large terrace connected with the city park.



Western City hotel (www.westernstyle.co.yu ) ex Moravica Hotel, with 42 beds in single, double and triple rooms, with TV sets, phones and bathrooms.

is recently renovated and has its own restaurant, bar and supermarket on the lower level.




Institution for specialized rehabilitation (www.zavodivanjica.co.yu) , unique combination of health institution and tourist center, with 270 beds in single, double or triple rooms, two apartments pool, hall, sauna, fitness center and small sport terrains.






LOCATION, CLIMATE AND TRAVEL CONNECTIONS
Ivanjica is located 220 km south of Belgrade, in vibrant valley of river Moravica, surrounded by forests of mountain Golija, at 468 m altitude. The climate is moderate continental, under subpolar influence, with mild snowy winters and fresh summers. There is no fog, and the air is exceptionally clear.

You can reach Ivanjica via:
* asphalt road -
via Uzicka Pozega (42 km) or Uzice (67 km);
* railway - to Pozega, and from Pozega by local bus (42 km);
* the closest airport is in Belgrade (220 km);
